Optimization

An image published to the Web or e-mailed to others should be compressed to consume as little storage space (in bytes) as possible. Optimizing is the process of reducing the file size while still preserving image quality.  There are three basic ways to optimize your images: resizing the image (reducing its pixel dimensions), reducing the number of colors, and using mathematical compression.
